Visa Cash App RB’s Challenge:

How can we create a mirror casing that is lighter, fully recyclable, and capable of withstanding the extreme demands of Formula 1TM racing?

Holy Technologies' Solution:

Using our IFP technology, we delivered:

  • 20% weight reduction, enhancing speed and efficiency.
  • 100% recyclability, with parts recycled during in-season design updates.
  • Track-proven durability and surface finish, meeting Formula 1TM standards.

About The Collaboration

Formula 1TM teams like Visa Cash App RB exist to push the boundaries of what is technically possible, testing innovations at the absolute limits of performance. These breakthroughs often pave the way for applications in other industries. In this collaboration, the Visa Cash App RB partnered with Holy Technologies to develop a lighter, recyclable mirror casing, showcasing how cutting-edge engineering can meet extreme performance demands without compromise.

How We Made It Happen

20% Lighter Component Design

  • Visa Cash App RB provided CAD files and detailed specifications, including load cases. Continuous fiber paths were digitally optimized to reduce weight significantly by 20% while ensuring full structural integrity.

Intelligent Fiber Orientation

  • Holy Technologies’ IFP technology places fibers with precision on double-curved 3D geometries to address specific load cases. Reinforced holes, undercuts, and localized thicknesses are seamlessly integrated into the preform—without added complexity.

Closed-Loop Recycling In Action

  • The original component was fully recycled, with its materials repurposed for new design iterations. Second-life fibers were used for mirror casings, meeting the same high-quality standards, even in their next application
